The Amazon Author Formula: Insider Tips, Tricks, and Strategies for Selling More Books

Getting sales on Amazon takes more than simply writing and uploading a great book—a lot more!
I love writing and publishing books. I don’t like marketing them. But a hard reality of publishing is this: Successful authors market their books.
In The Amazon Author Formula, book marketing expert Penny C. Sansevieri tells you pretty much everything you need to know to market your book on Amazon. She explains what to do and how to do it, using actual examples from Amazon. She includes screenshots (they’re hard to read but they illustrate what she’s explaining) so you can see the techniques in action. Of course, Amazon is only part of your overall book marketing plan, but it’s an important part.
The best quote and most important thing to understand:
Amazon is more of a search engine than it is a store. In fact, Amazon is the “Google” of online buying.
Some of this book will make your eyes glaze over—not because it’s not valuable information and not because Sansevieri isn’t a good writer, but because it’s material authors typically don’t care about. Plow through those sections anyway—it will be worth your time and effort.
The Amazon Author Formula is especially beneficial for indie authors who are doing their own marketing, but it’s good information even if you’re going to hire a publicist. For example, you’ll learn why it’s not always a great idea for your friends and family to do you the “favor” of buying your book and why your ads don’t necessarily need to be profitable to be effective.
If you’re already published, you can use Sansevieri’s advice to retrofit your books’ sales pages, keywords, and more. If you’re working on a book, read The Amazon Author Formula before you launch.
