What inspired you to write your book?
For the past 20+ years, I have worked with hundreds of people as a licensed mental health counselor and a business coach. Of the many tools in my professional toolkit, the most effective one by far has been interactive prayer—the basis for Strategic Prayer. Recently, God has challenged me to teach as many people as I could to listen to him in prayer. A book can reach a lot more people than I can as a speaker or coach.
I wasn’t sure Strategic Prayer could be taught in a book, but several people encouraged me to try. I was amazed in the process of writing the book how God gave me insights for ways to communicate in writing that I had never thought of before in coaching and speaking contexts.
What are the key takeaways readers will get from your book?
- How to have a real conversation with God—to listen and experience Him rather than just talking at Him.
- Understanding the Five Levels of Prayer—that prayer is a skill that we can grow in.
- How to strategize with God about “the good work that He prepared in advance for us” (Ephesians 2:10).
- Practical applications—using strategic prayer worksheets and even creating them for yourself, if you would like.
What else would you like readers to know about you and your book?
This book is focused on work, but the prayer concepts apply to anyone who wants to improve their prayer life.
