It’s easy to beat ourselves up when we make a mistake, miss a goal, or fail at something we really wanted to achieve.
When your self-talk starts heading in that direction, stop.
Give yourself credit.
Give yourself credit for everything you’ve overcome in your life—all the challenges, all the obstacles, all the trials.
Give yourself credit for all the things you’ve done for others—all the favors you did, all the gifts you gave, all the pleasant words you took the time to say.
Give yourself credit for the things you’ve achieved—the projects you finished, the successful investments you’ve made, the goals you reached or exceeded.
Give yourself credit for the things you do well—the things that give you satisfaction, the things that others praise you for, the things that you’ve practiced and advanced your skill level.
Give yourself credit for making a difference—for the times you caught someone else before they could fall, for the times you served in a way no one else did or could, for the times you stepped up and took action.
Give yourself credit for having taken chances—for the chances that didn’t work out, for the chances that did, for the chances that worked out better than you hoped.
Give yourself credit for little things and big things.
Go back as far as you can remember and write all your credits in a journal so you can remind yourself of them when you need to.
No one is successful one hundred percent of the time. That’s okay. Don’t let failure stop you from trying again. Let the lessons from your past strengthen you as you deal with the present and prepare for the future.
Give yourself credit.
