God the Creator,
We need You.
Earthquakes. Shootings. Strange objects in the sky. Train derailments. Fires at food processing plants. Bigotry and hatred.
The list of things that could frighten us is endless.
But You have told us, again and again, that we are not to be afraid.
You didn’t promise it would be easy. You never said there wouldn’t be storms, pain, challenges, or heartbreak.
You promised that You would be with us, and You are.
Oh, God, we pray for the victims. May those who died in these tragedies be welcomed into Your heavenly paradise. May those who were injured feel Your amazing love as they recover.
We pray for the rescuers. These people serving as your hands and feet here on Earth are faced with a monumental task and experiences that will change them forever. Give them comfort and strength so they can persevere when they are tired and overwhelmed.
We pray for those who are afraid. Please calm them so they may know peace, trust You, and live free of fear.
We ask that You guide us so we can stay focused on You. Remind us that even when we don’t understand, You are in control, we belong to You, and we have nothing to fear.
We lift up this prayer in the name of Your son and our savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen
