How frequently should you blog? The short answer is: As often as you need to.
How often you post will depend on your goals and resources. When it comes to content, you should always choose quality over quantity. The question is: What sort of posting schedule can you meet with the financial and time resources you have?
If you are using your blog as part of a search engine marketing campaign, frequency is important because the search engines like to see activity on a site. But you must be realistic about what you can produce. It’s better to start with a less-ambitious schedule and either supplement it with occasional extra posts or increase it as you go along than to set yourself up for failure by launching with a schedule you can’t meet long-term.
If you are using your blog to establish yourself as a thought leader in a relatively narrow niche, you may decide to publish more comprehensive content less frequently.
There’s no hard rule, but unless you have some serious reputation management issues to address, consider starting with a plan for three or four posts a month. Evaluate the results after the first quarter and decide what adjustments need to be made.
However often you decide to post, don’t just put up your articles and forget about them. Check out 13 Ways to Repurpose Blog Content for ideas on how to maximize your investment in creating quality content.
